Redefining What Food Means to Me

A Little More Intention

This blog post may look a little different from an ordinary food blog. As I said in my previous blog, I am in the phase of seeing & experiencing food in a different way. When I was in my eliminating phase, the question that came up in my journey was:

What Do I Want Food to Mean to Me?

I want to see food as a companion that plays a different role depending on what my body needs or the experience I want to create.
I want to continue to see food as something I can enjoy, flirt with & express with.
This time, just with intention. Not only from a space of availability, a mood, etc.
But as something that is carefully curated, that tastes beautiful and aligns with each season.

One of the aspects that is an important ingredient in the redefinition of how I approach food is understanding that everything is made out of energy. Meaning that food is also energy and has an impact on us. Either aligned or not.

And since food will be my companion, it is important to be aware that the energetic impact of food should be aligned. If my desired energy is uplifting, the foods that I want to enjoy should be aligned.

This is easier said than done, because now I am linking food to a spectrum of feelings, whether it makes me feel good or bad. And that takes awareness on a whole different level.

I came to understand that food can be categorized as healing, detoxification, nourishment and also enjoyment, and that I desire these Flavours That Nourish Every Season of My Life to be reflected in my favourite cuisines: Surinamese and Caribbean, Asian, especially Japanese, and Mediterranean.

The Earth produces so many vegetables, fruits, herbs, spices and other things that can nourish us, and I am on a journey to explore them.

And in this journey, I am learning to approach food with more attention to what my body needs. To Ask:

What season am I in? What do my soul and body need during this journey?

For me, this is the best approach: really discovering where I am and where I am going, trusting that approach and enjoying the journey of discovery.

This journey is about becoming her, the version of me who allows everything to be in partnership with me. Food included.

Even though I am not quite sure where it will lead, I am happy that I am finding these puzzle pieces. Now, I am trying to fit them together into one big masterpiece.

And since I enjoy cooking, I want to dive into the kitchen and be more creative with food through preparation and presentation.

Because, for me, the joy of cooking is about creation & the pleasure that comes with it. And food is a great way to express that pleasure.

With love,
Abigail
